What Happens Next? What's the next step once you decide to get a new website?

So, you’ve made the decision to go ahead and get a new website, now you’re wondering what the next step is?

Once you’ve decided to get a new site or update an existing one, we will take you through what is called a Discovery Meeting. A Discovery Meeting is where we sit down and go through each aspect of the new site with you. It’s an opportunity for us to understand your business / organisation and the goals you have for your digital presence. This meeting can cover a lot in a short time. Many of our clients have diverse and complex needs that can be challenging to express so to streamline this process, we ask a variety of questions to get a complete picture of your needs.

To help you prepare, here’s a list of questions you might encounter during our first meeting. It’s okay if you don’t have answers to all these questions. These are just topics we’ll cover to ensure we create a website that meets both your needs and ours.

Business / Organisation Overview
  • What products or services does your business / organisation offer?

  • In your own words, how would you describe your business / organisation?

  • Who are your ideal customers or target audience?

  • What are the key needs or goals of your customers / audience?

  • What do you want your website to achieve?

Strategic Goals
  • Who are your primary competitors, and how do you differentiate yourself?

  • Can you share examples of websites you like or dislike and why?

  • Are there features on competitor websites that you find appealing?

  • What are the main objectives for your website? For example, selling products, generating leads, newsletter sign-ups, sharing information.

  • Do you have access to your existing website's hosting services?

  • Have you set up tools like Google Analytics and Search Console?

Current Website Evaluation (if you have one)
  • What are your biggest frustrations with your current website?

  • What aspects of your current website do you like?

  • Are you happy with your current website’s traffic (visitors)?

  • What elements from your current site do you plan to keep (such as text, blog posts, images, or structure)?

  • Logos (if so, what file format?)
